The Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development was established in 2013 at the EXIM Bank Agricultural University Bangladesh, Chapainawabganj to support the development process of the Northern region of the country and to produce quality agricultural economics graduates needed for transforming agriculture of the region as well as the country. The faculty will generate and disseminate knowledge on the agricultural economics discipline and related fields of science with a view to strengthening the economic development of our country as a whole. The Faculty consists of five Departments, namely Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Finance & Cooperative, Statistics and Rural Development. One of major objectives of the faculty is to produce trained manpower in order to cater the increasing needs for agricultural economics graduates in the public and private sector as well as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) involved in overall development of the country. The need for skilled and trained manpower in an agro-based developing country like Bangladesh is essential to keep pace with the development process. Recognizing the complexities in the socioeconomic setting of rural areas and technological advancement in agricultural sector, the curricula of this faculty is designed to include multidisciplinary courses including agricultural science.
We have full-time faculty members with excellent academic background. Many of us have collaborative research projects with renowned agricultural economists and have been trusted by national and international organizations to conduct research in Bangladesh. The faculty is well-equipped with teaching facility, library, and computer laboratory for excellent learning of economic theories while emphasizing on practical applications for local and international agricultural development.
